Review: Sleek Blush By 3 Palette in Sugar

Hello dearies!
So a while back I did a post on Sleek's Blush By 3 Palette in Lace, where I mentioned to keep a lookout for my review on the Blush Palette in Sugar. So without further ado, I'll jump right into it!

When Sleek's Blush By 3 Palettes came out, I never wanted them, and only after they went past their 'limited edition' date did I go crazy trying to get the boyfriend to get them for me. I chose Lace and Sugar not only because these two palettes stood out the most to me among all the palettes; but also because with these two babies, I would have a different range of colours for blush that would probably suit all occasions.

Product: Sleek Blush By 3 Palette in Sugar
Price: £10 (approx. RM50)
Made in: Taiwan
Content: 20grams

Here's the product description and list of ingredients:-

Packaging: Sugar comes packaged in a slim, matte black compact plastic case which looks quite classy to me. It is simple packaging, which I like. The three different blushes contained in the palette also fills up the whole of the inside of the packaging, which is good as this minimises wastage of space and maximises the amount of the product. It comes with a mirror which covers the full length of the top casing which makes it very handy to apply and bring this on the go for touch ups. This does not come with a brush which IMO is better as they give more product which is more important to me and also because I don't use brushes that come included with products. It is also very lightweight and is approximately the size of an iPhone or iPod Touch 4th Gen. However, the matte texture of the packaging does make it quite easy to see dirt on the casing, like fingerprints, scratch marks or water stains. This however can be cleaned by wiping it down with a cloth and water, so it's not too much of a problem.

Colour: Sugar contains three beautiful colours which if I am not mistaken, goes from left to right, are Turbinado, Muscovado and Demerara.

Turbinado: A warm berry red shade with slight brown  and plum undertones. This is a gorgeous matte shade suitable for winter (actually, I think it's suitable for any season really, I had so much fun wearing this in the Malaysian hot weather) and it gives a very nice rosy flush to the cheeks

Muscovado: A warm terracotta bronze shade with strong reddish-brown undertones in a shimmer texture.  This shade is unbelievably pigmented so a little bit of this is more than enough for that pop of colour on the cheeks.

Demerara: A matte mid-orange shade with brown undertones, it is kinda like a mixture of orange and brown, a dirty orange colour maybe?

Application/Texture/Consistency: These powder blushes are very blendable and have a very smooth texture, making it an easy task to apply. All three shades are pigmented, but the most pigmented shade would be Muscovado hands-down. A little of Muscovado is all you need to get that pretty flush on the cheeks. Demerara and Turbinado are also pigmented, but not as pigmented as Muscovado. I did not find any of the shades to be chalky, which is good, although Demerara and Turbinado were not as smooth as Muscovado. The colours are also buildable so for those who like more colour on the cheeks, layering the colour on should not be a problem.

Durability: All three shades lasted on my cheeks for a good 6 hours without primer, before fading away completely. Pretty long-lasting I'd say!

How I use it: I just take a brush, press it very lightly into the product about 2-3 times until there's colour deposited on my brush, and then I apply it onto my cheeks, blending and buffing it out.

Here are the colours blended out:-

The pictures show that when blended out, all three shades are very wearable and not intimidating at all. Initially I was skeptical to wear a reddish and plummish colour on my cheeks because I am quite fair and was afraid the shades would make me look splotchy, but after wearing Turbinado and Muscovado, I have fallen in love with blush shades like these. They are absolutely stunning on the skin and are different from the typical pink and peach blushes I normally gravitate to.  My pictures don't seem to show it but Muscovado reflects light due to the shimmer particles and helps me achieve a glowy look.  I like all three shades, and if you ask me to pick one as a favourite, I honestly cannot choose! I like wearing Turbinado and Muscovado for that healthy flushed look, and I use Demerara whenever I want something simple and natural-looking on the lips. Demerara also looks great paired with a berry or red lip as it is not a strong blush shade, so it complements berry/red lips well. As the colours are buildable, it is very likely that this blush set will suit many skin tones. However, I do think that those with darker skin would like this palette because I think Turbinado and Muscovado especially look beautiful on medium to deep skin tones. I was helping a friend with a darker skin tone apply blush, and I used a combination of both those shades on her skin, and she loved it! I personally think she looked pretty, too. =D

Would I purchase this?- Yes! Athough I don't think I'll be repurchasing anytime soon as this will probably last me ages. This product is brilliant because I get three different good quality blushes for a small price. The amount of product I get for the price paid is also something that I cannot complain about- it really is worth the purchase.

Where can I purchase this?- This product can be found in selected Superdrug stores (I'm not sure which) but the ones which I do know carries this product is the Superdrug in Broad St, Reading; the Superdrug in Cardiff city and the Superdrug in Marble Arch where it has been made permanent. Otherwise, for those who do not live in the UK, fret not as the product is available online at their website and they have international shipping, if I'm not mistaken.

Have you tried this? What do you think of it? Any other red/brown blushes you recommend? =D

xx Amanda

    1. Agreed! It definitely is a hit. Oh yea I've seen Flame, it does not really appeal to me though cause I think the colours are too loud for my taste but am glad you like them! Yes, Sugar is really pretty!
