Project "Use Up Samples" Review | Korean Face Serums + more!

Hiya darlings!

It's been a while since I last posted. Slightly more than a week I think? Recently I haven't been in the mood to blog and been wanting instead to lie in bed and do nothing and just enjoy my holiday now that exams are over. I also injured my foot arch after wearing footwear which I hadn't worn in ages and am also slowly recovering, but that has put me in quite a downer seeing how it hurts.

Anyhow, I thought I'd do a mass 'samples' review today instead of an individual sample review, just because I feel like it. Hee! As these are only samples, this review post will be more like my first thoughts and first impression of the products. Let's get right into it!

1. Biore Oil Cotton Facial Sheet
This facial sheet contains Biore's Cleansing Oil in it to easily remove makeup and mascara, even waterproof mascara. I specifically tried this with waterproof mascara and found that this product helped me remove my makeup easily, and removed all my face makeup and almost all my waterproof mascara. I only had to put a bit more pressure on my lashes to completely remove everything. Although it contains cleansing oil, my face only felt slightly greasy, but after rinsing this off with facial cleanser, my face felt clean and non-greasy. I like that it did not irritate my eyes or skin, and did not leave my skin feeling taut. May consider purchasing this!

2. Skin Food GoldKiwi Emulsion
I tend to treat emulsions and serums the same and used this the way I would use a serum. This has a very light texture and feels slightly watery, spreading easily on the skin. I applied this on my face after cleansing and toning but before moisturising and like how it left my skin feeling soft and smooth. Seeing how it's named Gold Kiwi, I was expecting it to smell literally like kiwifruit but it did not- it had a light floral fragrance instead. A bit disappointed it did not smell like kiwifruit, but nonetheless, a pleasant smell that did not last long once applied on the skin. It also claims to have a whitening effect, but I did not experience any whitening effect. Probably have to use it for a longer period.

3. Maybelline Clear Smooth B.B White SPF 50 BB Cream
BB Creams and I never seem to get on well. They are either too light for me and leave me looking like a ghost, or have too much gray undertones and make me look ill. But I quite liked the BB Stick from the same range so I was quite excited to try this sample. It claims to brighten skin instantly and evens the skin tone, which I do agree with. It does pull slightly gray on me but after 20 minutes, once it's settled into my skin it seems to be a pretty good match with my skin. It does not fully conceal blemishes and spots so I still need to use a concealer after, and it does cling to the dry patches of my skin, but only if my skin is very dry. It does not fully live up to its 12 hour wear claim, but comes close at 9-10 hours wear on my skin, which is pretty. No irritation and breakouts for me too, which can only be a good thing!

4. Missha Super Aqua Marine Stem Cell Intensive Serum
The first thing that I noticed was the lovely fresh, aqua scent. This serum has a slight gel texture which glides easily on the skin and absorbs easily. Again, I apply it before moisturising but after cleanser and toner, and it leaves my skin so soft and smooth. This serum claims to create the perfect balance between radiance, moisture, and elasticity, and I agree to a certain extent. It does leave my face looking slightly radiant, moisturised and slightly elastic and bouncy, but all only slightly. I experienced no skin irritation or breakouts when using this- yay! I quite like the effects of this serum and the scent, so may purchase this one day once I finally get through (if I ever do) all my current skincare products.

5. Missha Time Revolution Immortal Youth Serum
This total anti-aging serum claims to revitalize and regenerate skin cells and provides wrinkle repair and whitening benefits. I cannot say whether these claims are true because this little sample only lasted me 3.5 days but I can say it did make my face look slightly more bright and awake whenever I used it. It however, has a strong floral scent which I find quite cloying. I also do not like the texture of this serum; it feels more like a gel-cream instead of a watery serum and I found that it left my face feeling slightly sticky after application and took about 10-15 minutes to sink into my skin. No skin irritation and breakouts but I do not think I will ever purchase this because the texture and scent are not up my alley at all.

6. Vichy Idealia Life Serum
This serum claims to be a skin idealiser which helps the complexion look fresher, make the skin tone look more even, help features appear rested and visibly refine pores. It can be used underneath moisturiser or on its own, and personally I liked using it on its own. This is because it has micro-shimmer or something like that in it which really does make my skin look more alive and fresh. If I apply moisturiser over it, I find that that effect is somewhat lost. This serum has a lightweight texture akin to a watery gel and sinks in easily into the skin. It has a pleasant light floral scent which fades off the skin shortly after applied. I do not think it helps my pores look more refined but I like how it slightly hydrates my skin and brightens it. No breakouts and skin irritation with this one too- which is good!

So that's all for the samples I've recently used up! Have you tried any of these products before? Or are there any that you would like to? =D

xx Amanda
