Review: Topshop Nail Polish in Celestial

Hello loves!

If you don't already know, I am a bit of a nail polish freak. I love painting my nails and my mission is to have every colour of the rainbow in my collection and more. Hee! About a year and a hald after Topshop released their makeup line back in Malaysia, I eagerly went to check out the nail polish range, and this is one of the purchases I went away with from my trip back then.

Product: Topshop Nail Polish in Celestial
Price: RM29 in M'sia/ £5 in the UK (approx. RM25)
Made in: France
Content: 8ml

I also reviewed two other Topshop nail polishes which I purchased in the UK, and now that I think of it, I wonder why I did not review this first. Anyway, here's the list of ingredients of this polish which I found on Topshop's website.

Ingredients:-
BUTYL ACETATE, ETHYL ACETATE, NITROCELLULOSE, PHTHALIC ANHYDRIDE/ TRIMELLITIC ANHYDRIDE, GLYCOLS COPOLYMER, ACETYL TRIBUTYL CITRATE, ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, STEARALKONIUM BENTONITE, TRIPHENYL PHOSPHATE, N-BUTYL ALCOHOL, STYRENE/ ACRYLATES COPOLYMER, SILICA, BENZOPHENONE-1, DIACETONE ALCOHOL, TRIMETHYLPENTANEDIYL DIBENZOATE, POLYVINYL BUTYRAL, ALUMINA.

MAY CONTAIN (+/-): MICA, ALUMINA, CALCIUM ALUMINIUM BOROSILICATE, CALCIUM SODIUM BOROSILICATE, SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE, POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE, POLYBUTYLENE TEREPHTHALATE, ETHYLENE/VA COPOLYMER, ACRYLATES COPOLYMER, TIN OXIDE,
ALUMINUM POWDER (C1 77000), TITANIUM DIOXIDE (C1 77891), RED 6 LAKE (C1 15850), RED 7 LAKE (C1 15850), RED 34 LAKE (C1 15880), YELLOW 5 LAKE (C1 19140), FERRIC AMMONIUM FERROCYANIDE (C1 77510), RED IRON OXIDE (C1 77491), BLACK IRON OXIDE (C1 77499), BISMUTH OXYCHLORIDE (C1 77163), BLUE 1 LAKE (C1 42090), CARMINE (C1 75470), VIOLET 2 (C1 60725), MANGANESE VIOLET (C1 77742), YELLOW 10 LAKE (C1 47005), CHROMIUM OXIDE GREENS (C1 77288), ULTRAMARINES (C1 77007), RED 17 (C1 26100), YELLOW NO 11 (C1 47000), GREEN 6 (C1 61565)BLACK 2 (C1 77266), (C1 12490), (C1 74160), (C1 74260), ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE, DIBENZOXAZOYL NAPHTHALENE, CALCIUM OXIDE, SODIUM OXIDE, POLYACRYLATE-4.

Colour: Celestial is a true periwinkle blue creme polish. It's a bright, happy blue yet it still exudes a soft feel. It reminds me of baby powder, somehow, but in a good way! This is a pretty shade which is perfect for spring and summer (or any time of the year, for that matter) and is a good perk-me-up shade as I can't help but feel happy every time I look at it on my nails.

Packaging: This comes in the standard Topshop nail polish packaging which is rather cute and quirky. The matte texture of the white bottle cap may attract dirt and dust but I have been rather careful with mine and have been fortunate so far not to have any dirt marks on it.

Application/Texture/Consistency: Celestial applies easily without being too runny or gloopy, unlike it's sisters Gone Fishing and Parma Violet. I did experience streaking upon applying the first layer, but the second layer evens everything out and gives my nails an opaque finish. It does not dry to a matte finish but leaves a slight glossy sheen on the nails, although at times I do like to top it up with a top coat for extra protection and shine (when I'm being lazy I leave it as it is). The brush is not too thin, giving me decent control over how I paint my nails. It also does not take too long to dry, which cannot be a bad thing.

Durability: Without a top coat and base coat, this lasts on my nails for two to three days before chipping. It's likely to last longer with a base coat and top coat.

Here's some swatches of Celestial on my nails under different lighting:

I thought I'd also show how this nail polish looks like with a slight glitter layer over it. The one I used in the pictures below is Look Beauty's Nail Pop in Sequin Effect.

This third picture above is probably the picture which best portrays the true colour of Celestial, minus the glitter effect going on there of course.

Price: At RM29/ £5 a pop, this is slightly more to what I am used to spending on nail polishes, although I realised since living in the UK, the amount I'm willing to spend on nail polishes has considerably increased. What made me purchase this back home was the fact that I found this particular shade difficult to find in pharmacies or Korean beauty stores. In the UK, however, this shade is all the norm and I have seen cheaper alternatives.

Where can I purchase this?- In Malaysia, you can purchase this in any Topshop store nationwide. In the UK, you can purchase this online or in any Topshop store nationwide.

Will I repurchase this?- I love this shade, but as there are cheaper alternatives, I'll probably give those other brands a go instead of this, so no, I do not think I will repurchase this. However, shade-wise, if you cannot find any similar dupes to this one, I really recommend this shade as it is so pretty and I think would match many skin tones. =)

Have you tried this shade or any Topshop nail polishes? What's your favourite shade? =D

I have never tried Topshop makeup stuff before, there's too many options.

    1. I love it too! I have never tried Barry M's Blueberry but have seen it in store and it does look pretty similar. Topshop makeup is pretty good- I personally like the nail polishes and lipsticks, although granted, cheaper options can be found elsewhere. =D
