Review: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla

Hello loves!

I'm always on the search for a good concealer which matches my skin tone and which can function as a concealer both to cover up blemishes or scars and to cover up my dark under-eye circles. I heard many good things about the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and had considered purchasing it many times to try it out. The price however was a put off - it's quite steep! A few months ago I finally decided to take the plunge and purchased this concealer in the shade Light 2 - Vanilla

NARS describes this concealer as ideal for all skin types, the radiant creamy concealer is a multi-action formula that instantly obscures imperfections, blurs lines and wrinkles, hides dark circles and signs of fatigue. It also purports to be crease-proof, paraben-free, alcohol-free, fragrance-free and non-comodogenic. The Radiant Creamy Concealer contains 6ml of product and is made in USA.

The concealer comes packaged in a slim plastic tube with a matte rubber cap similar to that of all NARS' products. The rubber matte cap feels nice to hold but can easily get dirt marks or product residue left on the cap. I like my products looking like they are brand new so I try my best to keep the cap clean and dirt-free.

The concealer comes with a doe foot applicator which picks up a decent amount of product. I do not normally apply concealer on my skin directly using the applicator. Instead, I dab the amount of product I want on my hand and apply the product where I want with my fingers as I prefer the finish it gives me. I have tried using the applicator to apply the product on my dark circles and I find that it spreads and blends the product in quite well.

I realised I forgot to snap a picture of the ingredients list which is printed on one side of the box so I've typed it out below here to make things easy - hee!

The shade Light 2 - Vanilla is a shade with very slight pink undertones. Although it is not my exact skin tone, it is quite a good match for my NC15-20 skin. I tested Custard in store and it was a bit too dark and yellow for me whereas the lightest shade Chantilly was too fair and pink for me. So Vanilla it is. True to its claims, this little gem is scent-free - perfect for those who are sensitive to scented products!

The concealer has a creamy liquid texture which spreads easily on the skin and blends easily. When applied on the skin, it feels extremely light and I feel as if I am not wearing any concealer. It also gives a slight glow to the skin which I really like - makes me look more fresh and awake! Coverage is light to medium bordering full at best but can easily be layered to provide the coverage I need. However, if I have really red blemishes or very dark circles under the eye, I feel that this does not provide adequate coverage as hints of discolouration can still be seen. Also, if too much product is applied, it can look cakey and emphasise the fines lines of my skin, especially at my under eyes so I apply two layers at most to avoid that. I set it in place with a light layer of powder and it stays for at least 7 hours before fading off completely.

Below is a swatch of Vanilla on my hand showing you how it fared in covering the little mole on my hand. I applied two layers of the product to get this result.

The little mole in the pictures above is covered pretty well. Only if I look really close can I see a faint dark dot, but otherwise, I cannot see anything. The finish is also quite natural and slightly luminous, covering up what I need without making it look flat.

This is definitely one of the better concealers I have tried out there. It covers well without becoming cakey immediately, the colour shade is probably the best match out there for me so far, it looks natural on the skin and leaves a slight luminous sheen. I also did not experience any skin irritation, rash or break out from using this product - plus point! Not sure whether I will repurchase because a little goes a long way with this and I think I'll be using this for quite some time! Oh, before I forget, this baby currently retails at RM112 in Malaysia.

Have you tried this concealer? What concealers would you recommend to cover up dark circles? =D

  1. If you do try out the Urban Decay concealer, please tell us what you think! I've been reading a lot about that and people compare it to the NARS one.
I had this but once I lost my tan it was too dark for me and so I gave it to a friend!

    1. the urban decay concealer is very good in term to cover acne scars/dark circles. My skin is oily and sensitive, so far the urban decay concealer is okay for me. my holy grail product..

  2. I have been thinking about getting this bad boy for a while. I really do like concealers like this - my current favourite is the 3CE full cover concealer. I'm not sure weather I should get this one or get the Urban Decay concealer as well. Another in my wishlist is the new Aritaum concealer.

Specially when nowadays I tend to use more concealer then actual foundation.
Oh and the photos are all super lovely! I love the hint of green in it :3

Take care, have a nice day!
