NOTD: Aztec Nails

Hello loves!

Aztec prints are one of my favourite prints to don, be it my clothes, accessories or nails. I truly apologise for not posting more despite exams having ended, am just taking a break from everything and have not really been in the mood to blog, unfortunately. Instead, I've been spending time catching up on movies that I've been wanting to watch, going for walks, taking pictures, travelling, and sleeping more. I sat in my room the other day, and out of sheer boredom, decided to create Aztec nails. This is my first attempt doing it properly and am rather pleased with how it turned out! =D

I looked at many designs on the Internet and came up with this design. The colour scheme took a while for me to come up with as I just could not decide what colours to use, but I settled on these and I think they turned out to complement each other. I do not have a white nail polish so I made do with a nude off white shade.

The pictures below show my designs looking a little messy- that's because I am left-handed and had to paint those black lines and colours on my nails with my shaky right hand. Also, the black nail polish (which has a long, thin brush making it much easier to draw lines) smears when a top coat is applied, making my lines looking less than perfect.

So I thought I'd also show the products I used to create this look:-

From left-right:
- Maybelline Forever Strong Pro Nail Polish in Lilac Charm
- Topshop Nail Polish in Celestial
- Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Lychee
- Essie Nail Lacquer in Off the Shoulder
- L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Art Lacquer in Black

If you're wondering what that thin metal rod is at the most left corner of the picture above, that's actually a paper clip straightened out. I do not have dotting tools, I left my nail art brushes back home, and did not have toothpicks at hand. So desperate me straightened a paper clip and used the ends to make dots, draw short lines, or slowly colour in sections of the nail. I like to think I was being creative in using a paper clip as a dotting tool. Hee!

So I hope you enjoyed my short post about my Aztec nails. I spent a good three hours or so creating this look (including drying time, painting etc), although in hindsight I probably should have painted my nails the day before, and then only draw on the design the next day.

Have you tried creating Aztec designs on your nails? Do you like Aztec prints? =D

xx Amanda
