Hi loves!
Are you someone who wants smooth, soft skin, feet, hands but are just too lazy to apply body moisturisers? I know I am. I find the task of applying any body lotion, heel or hand cream such a chore, and I have to constantly remind myself to do it, especially since it's winter here and my skin is really dry. Imagine my delight when this arrived at my doorstep!

Initially when I was contacted by GelSmart Malaysia, I had my doubts as I had never heard of this brand before. I checked out their main website but it was in Mandarin, and my skill in reading Mandarin is almost next to nothing, but there were some Taiwanese reviews and pictures which seemed promising. The products also looked very interesting, so I decided to give it a go!
I was very kindly sent three products from the GelSmart Moisturizing range* but will only review the Lavender Booties* in this post, and the other two in another post.
What is GelSmart?
GelSmart products all have a healing therapeutic aloe vera gel lining which contain 7 essential oils to pamper, moisturise and condition the skin while you wear them. The products come in two different ranges: Lavender and Ceramides.
What are the 7 essential oils?
The oils are: Avocado, Olive, Mineral, Jojoba, Grape Seed, Canola and Soybean
The Lavender range is also infused with Lavender, whereas the Ceramides range is infused with Green Tea and Willow.
Product: GelSmart Lavender Moisturizing Booties*
Price: RM129 (approx. £25.80)
Made in: Taiwan
Content: One (1) pair
Here's a little explanation about what this booties (this is such a cute word!) does and its list of ingredients:-
Packaging: The booties come contained in a sturdy plastic transparent box with the details written on cardboard attached to it. I did not think much of the packaging- but I am not fussy, it's the contents of the package that is important!
Colour: The booties, which are actually a pair of socks, come in a sweet, eye-pleasing pastel purple. I love the colour as it is very calming to look at.
Scent: This was the first thing I noticed when I opened the package- it smells strongly of lavender. I absolutely love the scent of lavender so this was a huge plus point for me. The scent is so soothing and calming that wearing this and sniffing the lavender just makes me calmer instantly.
Application/Texture/Consistency: The booties come with a soft, fluffy microfibre outer lining, and is lined with the gel lining on the inside. The soft outer lining reminds me of those soft fluffy socks I like to wear to bed when it is cold, and it is a dream to touch. The inner gel lining feels like jelly, but when wearing the booties, it feels like a soft padded jelly supporting and comforting the feet, if that makes sense. I wear it 2-3 times per week for 30 minutes each time, and after removing the socks from my feet, my feet are left feeling very soft and smooth. I do have a tiny bit of rough skin on my heels and this has helped soften it somewhat. I noticed that it also left a silky, powdery feel to my feet each time I removed it. You may or may not be bothered about this. I was slightly put off by the powdery feel the first time I wore it, but after wearing it a few times, I stopped being bugged by it. It is not a big thing, but because I am not used to putting creams/lotions/powders on my feet, the feeling was something I had to get used to.
Look at the jelly-like gel lining:-
How I use it: I pretty much followed the directions listed on the package. I wash my feet and dry it thoroughly, and then gently slip these booties onto my feet. I leave them on for 30 minutes, and then turn them inside out to air dry before putting them back into their package. I normally only wear mine when I am chilling in bed, or when I am sitting down doing some studying, because I do not want to get the outer lining of the socks dirty. It can be used with moisturising cream for a more intensive treatment, but I did not do so, because I was happy with the results it gave me after each use. I have used this for a month and did not experience any discomfort, irritation or poor circulation.
The directions recommend replacing the booties are using it for 50 times (which means a total of 1500 minutes if you use it for 30 minutes each time) for optimal results. I did enquire about this and the lovely Tarry from GelSmart Malaysia told me that you can still use it after having used it for 50 times, but the effect will not be as good as the first 50 times it was used. If the gel lining starts to get tacky, sprinkle talcum powder on it to get rid of the tackiness. The gel lining can also be gently cleaned with a wet towel or wet tissue, if powder is not your thing. The booties can also be hand washed in lukewarm water with mild soap.
However, do not use this product on an open wound or abraded skin. Also, if irritation or poor circulation occurs, it is probably best to stop using this.
Will I purchase this?- Yes! I really like how it softens and moisturises my feet, and I am not left with the slippery feel on my feet that lotions tend to leave on the skin. It has also helped soften the dry skin on the sides of my feet and the slightly rough areas on my heels, so I am pretty pleased! It is also an affordable way of treating the feet. Although RM129 sounds like a lot (and it did shock me a bit when I first saw the price), if I use them for 50 times, each use only amounts RM 2.58 (approx. £ 0.52)! I hardly think I can complain about that.
Where can I purchase this?- If you live in Malaysia, the only way you can purchase this is via GelSmart Malaysia's Facebook page. Just Facebook message them telling them which product you want, and they will liase with you on your purchase. For now, shipping is FREE within Malaysia.
If you do not live in Malaysia, do not fret, you can still purchase this! Leave them a message on GelSmart Malaysia's Facebook page informing them which product you want to purchase, and they will liase with you on that. However, shipping charges for international shipping will have to be paid by the buyer. and they will inform you on the cost of the shipping.
