Review: Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout & Mauve It Over

Hello darlings!

How has your week been going? I've had a rather hectic week at uni, what with tutorials and usual lectures, plus exams are looming closer... =S

Anyway, today is International Women's Day and I just want to wish all women a GREAT DAY! You're beautiful, caring, inspiring and I wish you all the best in all that life gives you! =D

So I've been using these lippies for a while now, and thought, hey! I better review 'em quick!

Product: Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick
Price: RM33 each
Made in: USA
Content: 4.2grams

I've been wanting to try out matte lipsticks for a while so when I saw these, I decided to get two colours...

I'll show you the lipsticks individually and then only head on to the review! =D

First is #003 Mauve It Over:-

Colour: #003 Mauve It Over is a mauve-peach-brown shade with warm undertones that would be a perfect nude colour for some lip shades. I really like this colour as it enhances my lip colour- kinda like My Lips But Better (MLBB)! =D

And here's #002 Pink Pout...

Colour: #002 Pink Pout is a very light, sweet pastel pink with blue undertones. I find this tends to wash me out slightly. I like this colour but I feel it would suit skin tones with cool undertones, or those with extremely fair skin. =D

So what do I think of these lippies??

Packaging: The lippies come in a plastic black tube with matte silver rimming inside. I think it exudes a classy feel, and I really like the packaging. Simple yet classy.

Application/Texture/Consistency: The lipsticks both have a very creamy texture. Both colours are just pure colour, without any hint of sparkles or shimmer or gloss. They leave a matte texture on the lips and are easy to apply- it just glides on. They are not very drying, but I wouldn't say they're moisturising too. Just a bit in between both. I do find though that they tend to emphasise the fine lines in my lips, and the product may "sink" into the fine lines as well. However, I feel matte lipsticks can be worn anywhere unlike shimmer lipsticks which may not be work appropriate at times, so that's definitely a plus point for me! =D

Scent: The lipsticks have no scent at all! This is great for people who do not like their lipsticks to have any scent.

Durability: These lipsticks both last for approx. 4 hours before re-application is needed. It even lasts after I drink and eat. Pretty long-lasting I'd say!

Here's swatches of the lipsticks:-

And another swatch taken under natural lighting during the day...

In both pictures the lipsticks were swatched lightly on my hand twice. =) I realise #003 Mauve It Over looks rather orange-y in the pictures but in real life it looks more peach-y brown.

How I use it: As these lipsticks are matte, I like to apply a light layer of lip balm on my lips before applying the lipstick. I let the lip balm sink in, apply a layer of lipstick using vertical strokes on my lips, blot with tissue, and then apply another layer. If I want to attract attention away from the fine lines, I apply a layer of lip balm or lip gloss over it to add shine. =)

Price: At RM33, I think it's very reasonable for lipsticks of this quality. Worth getting IMO. =)

So here's pics of how each colour looks on my lips:-

Would I repurchase?- Yes to both colours! I like them both as I really do like the matte texture, and it feels really creamy.

Where can I purchase these?- At pharmacies such as Watsons, Guardian, Caring and also departmental stores like Parkson and Metrojaya.

So have you tried matte lipsticks? Do you like them?

I gotta run now so hope you have an awesome week ahead! Toodles! =D

xx Amanda
