Products that Cleared Up My Pimpled Skin

Hey dears!

Pimples and acne are annoyingly painful things to have. I do not know about you, but it sure is for me! I experienced an awful breakout fest about 2-3 years ago and it's something which I still bear small scars of till today. At that time, I tried so many different acne control products to help get rid of the zits I had but the zits just continued to pop up. I used so many sensitive skin products to try to soothe my inflamed skin but nothing worked. My face condition at that time was a blow to my self-esteem, to be honest. I then tried these few products, and used them together. They worked so well that after two months, my skin was almost free from pimples, most of the redness was gone, and it had started going back to how it used to be (generally acne-free). So today, I thought I would share with you the products that helped clear up my skin.

When my skin was going crazy (or cray-cray, as I like to call it), I decided to give these products a go and used them together. I cannot remember which cleanser it was that I used (I think it was the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturising Facial Wash) but other than that, I stopped using all other products I was trying out to help calm down my skin and only used these three products.

Rosewater Toner
I don't think I can ever stop singing love for rosewater. Aside from its gorgeous scent, rosewater has many benefits for the skin. It helps to maintain the skin's pH balance and can hydrate and moisturise the skin. It has antiseptic and microbial properties and helps fight acne as well as fade scars. Rosewater cools the skin and does not irritate the skin making it suitable for sensitive skin. I could go on and on but then I'd never stop - hee! At that point of time, I was actually using the Boots 100% Organic Rosewater Toning Spritz but I have tried many other brands of rosewater after that and they all pretty much give me the same results. I just try my best to make sure that there is no alcohol in the product and I'm good to go!

Boots Botanics Ultra Calm Skin Calming Serum
If there is one product that soothes my sensitive skin and calms the redness of my skin, this is it. This serum is infused with a blend of marshmallow, liquorice and Linden flower which claims to uniquely soothe and immediately leave the skin comforted. I have to agree. After using this day and night straight for 2-3 weeks, my skin condition drastically improved. It became less splotchy, less red, and jut looked more calm and less irritated generally. This serum is an extremely light gel which blends easily into the skin and does not leave it feeling greasy or sticky. It's a shame we cannot get this in Malaysia, but I sometimes get friends who are coming back from the UK to purchase this, or purchase this in Boots Thailand whenever I go to Thailand. A skin-saver product for me, this is!

The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Night Cream
I was randomly browsing the shelves of a Body Shop store in the UK when a sales assistant came up to me. She saw my skin back then and recommended I try this range. I told her I was hesitant because so many products did nothing for my inflamed and pimpled skin and she gave me a sample of this cream. I finished the sample and was so impressed that I went back and purchased it. Although branded as a night cream, I do not find the texture of this cream very heavy. It has a quite light texture and is scent-free, making it perfect for skin types adverse to fragrance. It does not leave the skin feeling sticky and greasy and provides adequate moisture to my skin. Back then, I used a pea-sized amount of this product day and night and after 2-3 weeks, my skin really improved

So those are the three products that helped clear up my skin. I am just so glad I found a combination of products that worked for me, and ever since, I have been faithfully repurchasing these products, and will continue to do so!

What are the products that help you stay pimple-free? I'd love to know some different products! =D

  3. The rosewater toner definitely looks interesting, I know so many companies have come out with a rose type of toner. I'm always looking for a toner so I will have to check that one out.

    1. Hi Kelly! Yup many companies have come out with rose type of toners but I personally prefer ones without alcoho as that really dries out my skin. Hopefully you'll like it too when you try it out! =D

  4. Sometimes keeping a really simple skin care regime is the best to when our skin is extra sensitive.
If for some reason - specially stress or if I have the bad luck of getting a food poisoning - my skin gets a little crazy, I usually use less products and more specific in therms of comforting. And Aloe Vera is an amazing ingredient for that. I usually have large tubes of gel at home with me - it calms my skin, no matter what is the problem.

Now I'm really curious about that boots serum. I might try to get it whenever I get to visit the UK.
Take care dear, have a nice day!

    1. Hi Diana! I totally agree! Sometimes for sensitive skin it's all about just the basics for skincare. And yeah- aloe vera is soothing. I should probably stock up on them like you! Do give the boots serum a try when you're next in the UK. It's rather soothing! =D
