My Current Favourite Makeup Brushes! + Video

Hi loves!

It's been quite a while since my last post (I feel) but in all honesty I have been struggling to write posts and deal with the amount of work I have to prepare for classes. The workload is amazingly huge and literally consumes all my time. At the end of the day, I'm left feeling knackered and all I want to do is do nothing, you can understand. =)

Anyhow, I previously shared how I washed my makeup brushes, and I thought it was high time I shared my current favourite makeup brushes with you dolls! I am a fan of using my fingers to apply makeup as it is quick, easy and costs nothing! However, there is only so much my fingers can do when it comes to precise application and/or contouring- and that is where makeup brushes enter the picture!

Review: Elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Luminance

Hey there dearies!

Highlighters and bronzing powders are things that are relatively new in my beauty routine. I only started using them about a year ago after discovering what gave celebrities that healthy looking glow. This product I have here was sitting in my beauty stash box for about 8 months before I decided to give it a go early this year. Although it is called a bronzing powder, I find this works more like a highlighter due to the light shade of this product.

FOTD: Brown-Gold Smokey Eyes for Prom!

So I know I have been missing from the blogosphere for a while- have not actually written a proper post in a long time! That's 'cause I am in the midst of my exams, hehe! But I've been oh-so yearning to blog, so as a lil' birthday gift to myself, I'm gonna gift myself by blogging two posts! Haha!! So this is the first post, and it's a Face of The Day (FOTD) that I did for a friend who was attending her university's prom. I am not a professional but I since I really do like makeup, I just thought it'd be cool to help do her makeup! Hehe!

She wanted a brown-gold smokey eye so this is what I came up with:-

EOTD: Brunch With The Girls

Hey there! Just thought I'd post up a little Eye Of The Day (EOTD) that I did a while back.

This is a very simple look which I wore to go out for brunch with the girl friends. It is a very light look; sweet and not too over-powering that it can be worn to work, school or even a date! =D

This look has hints of pink,peach and sand. Wanted it to look natural so that I could wear it to many occasions - versatile! =D I winged my eye liner out very thinly to create a more cat-like look.

So here's a quick breakdown on how I created this look:-

- Green circle: I used this colour (a glittery cream colour) as the base shade, shade for the inner corner of the eyes as well as the highlight shade underneath my eyebrow.
- Blue circle: I placed this colour (a shimmery taupe-sand colour) in the middle of my eyelid
- Pink circle: I mixed these two colours (a  shimmery light pink and shimmery light purple) and placed them on the outer corner of my eyes

So yep! This is a simple, everyday look that anyone can wear! Just pop on the colour and blend according to your liking! Hope you liked the look! =D

EOTD: Green Eyed Envy

Hi ya dearies! Was just thinking about what I should post here and realised I have not posted up an EOTD in a while so yep that's what I'm gonna do today! =D

I did this EOTD a while back actually.. Was playing with my Elf eyeshadow palette and randomly came up with this look. Was not really inspired by anything, except I really felt like I HAD to do a green look. Haha! It's not something that I would dare to wear out as of yet (still not that much confidence, hee!), though.

Anyway, say hello to my EOTD: Green Eyed Envy! =D



One thing that puts me off doing EOTD's is that I take AGES to photograph it. Am really bad in figuring out the lighting, angles... and then, I have to deal with my shaky hands. =.=

But will try my best to post more EOTDs! =D

So a really quick breakdown on how I created this look:-



Hopefully you can see the circles I drew!



- Blue circle: This colour (a light green)  was used in the inner corner of my eye

- Pink circle: I mixed these two colours (two types of darker greens) up and placed them in the middle of my eyelid

- Orange circle: Mixed these two colours up (a black-ish grey and grey) and placed them on the outer corner of my eye

Review: Elf Everyday Brights 32 Piece Eyeshadow Collection

I got this palette free of charge when I made my order on Elf Cosmetics UK. When you look at the box, it shows three rows of bright, pretty colours.

I opened it to find that there was another row of shadows at the bottom. hidden from sight when the palette is closed.

The first row contains shades of browns, the second row shades of greens, the third row pink and blue shades, and the last row shades of grey. The palette contains a mirror on the top of the palette's cover. I find it slightly too small for my liking, but it would be convenient for travelling.

An eyeshadow applicator is included but I took it out 'cause don't really like the applicator. Hee! The packaging is sleek- looking and very light.

Most of the colours consist of shimmery and there are shades with specks of glitter in it. There are a few matte shades in there too.

Whats do I think of the colour payoff and texture? When touching it, the texture is creamy and smooth for most shades. The colour payoff for the shimmery shades are the best IMHO and the matte ones the worst. The ones with glitter specks in them have okay colour payoff but the glitter specks are kinda big and can make my eyes look like a disco ball! Hee!

So yep, those are the swatches taken with and without flash just to give you an idea of how'd it look like under different lighting conditions. =D

I find though, that applying these colours using my fingers are a much more effective method compared to using brushes, 'cause with brushes there's BARELY any colour, and I have to use so much product I end up getting more fallout instead of colour. Haha!

I think this is a limited edition eyeshadow collection, though. It costs £9 (approx. RM45), and I guess that is a reasonable price considering the number of colours you get, but would I purchase it myself?- Yea, maybe. If it worked better with brushes. Haha!

Sorry for not posting sooner, been busy taking pictures and trying to make sure I take 'em right. Haha!

So today I'm gonna give quite a LENGTHY review on the Elf brushes I bought on my haul when I was in the UK a couple months back.

 Elf is an American brand known for their affordable yet reasonably good quality products. Unfortunately, it is unavailable back here in Malaysia, so the nearest place we can get it shipped from is Singapore. All the brushes I bought from the Studio line cost £3.50 (approx. RM17.50) each and the brushes from the normal line cost £1.50 (approx. RM7.50) each and are all made of synthetic material
